Frequently Asked Questions

Our Service

What is Recycle Any Car?

Recycle Any Car is a comparison platform that connects you with trusted, ATF-registered scrap car buyers across the UK. Whether your vehicle is a runner, non-runner, damaged, or written-off, we help you find the best price and a hassle-free collection.

Do you buy cars directly?

We don't buy vehicles ourselves — instead, we work with a trusted network of ATF-registered scrap vehicle buyers who handle the collection, payment, and DVLA paperwork on your behalf.

Is Recycle Any Car a nationwide service?

Yes, we work with scrap vehicle buyers across England, Scotland, and Wales. No matter where you’re based, we can connect you with a local collector who’ll offer a competitive price and free collection.

How It All Works

How does Recycle Any Car work?

It’s simple — enter your vehicle registration and postcode on our website. We’ll review the details and contact you with a tailored quote from one of our trusted ATF-Registered scrap collectors. If you're happy with the offer, we’ll arrange free collection and handle all the paperwork for you.

What information do I need to provide?

We’ll need your vehicle registration, postcode, and a few details about the condition of your car. The more accurate the info, the more accurate your quote will be.

Can I scrap my car without a V5C logbook?

Yes, you can still scrap your vehicle without a V5C. We may ask for alternative proof of ownership, such as photo ID and a utility bill. Just let us know in advance and we’ll advise you on what’s needed.

Vehicle Eligibility

Can I scrap a car that doesn’t start?

Yes, non-runners are absolutely fine. Many of the vehicles we help recycle are no longer roadworthy. Just let us know when you request a quote so we can match you with a suitable collector.

Do you accept vans, motorbikes, or 4x4s?

Absolutely! We can help you scrap vans, 4x4s, motorbikes, and even small commercial vehicles. Just enter your vehicle details and we’ll take care of the rest.

Can I scrap a car that’s been written off by insurance?

Yes — we work with ATF-Registered collectors who are authorised to deal with insurance write-offs, including CAT A, B, S and N vehicles. We’ll make sure it’s recycled legally and in line with DVLA requirements.

Payments & Paperwork

How will I get paid for my vehicle?

Payment is usually made by bank transfer on the same day as collection. While most collectors pay by bank transfer, some may issue payment via cheque. We’ll confirm the payment method when the quote is arranged.

What paperwork do I need when scrapping my car?

You'll need to provide your V5C logbook (if available), proof of ID, and possibly proof of ownership. If you don’t have the logbook, we can still proceed, but please let us know so we can advise on alternatives.

Will I get a receipt when I scrap my car?

Yes, you will receive a receipt from the collector confirming the car was scrapped. This document is important for your records, so make sure to keep it safe.
